Stellar Acappella is an auditioned all-female acappella choir from Ipswich, Suffolk — nearly 40 voices strong and bursting with character. We deliver bold four-part harmony with plenty of sparkle, diving into everything from musical theatre and modern pop to rock anthems and timeless favourites. We bring vibrant, polished live vocal performances to every stage - from our own concerts to charity events, corporate functions and private celebrations across Suffolk and the surrounding areas.

Stellar Acappella is an established female a cappella choir in Suffolk, bringing together almost forty highly dedicated singers who share a passion for musical excellence and connection through harmony.
Founded in 2017 by Musical Director Gaynor Schofield, the choir was built on years of experience leading award-winning vocal ensembles. Under her direction, Stellar Acappella has developed a reputation in Ipswich and across Suffolk for precision, expressive performance and a rich, unified sound.
Our repertoire - We specialise in unaccompanied four-part harmony, performing a wide mix of carefully crafted arrangements. Our setlist leaps happily between musical theatre favourites, contemporary pop, classic rock and the occasional traditional gem — all performed from memory to create a direct, engaging and wonderfully immersive experience for our audiences.
Performing - We typically take to the stage around eight times a year, from our own Suffolk concerts to collaborative performances, fundraising events, private functions and community celebrations. Wherever we go, we bring a warm, welcoming energy that audiences love.

Stellar Acappella meet every Wednesday (with a couple of weeks break over Christmas) in Ipswich.

To become a member....
SING TO A STANDARD
You should be able to sing confidently in tune across a range of dynamic levels, generally in a legato style without excessive vibrato, and be able to hold an independent harmony line. Our audition process has two parts: * Perform a song of your own choice * Sing a harmony part within a quartet setting
ATTEND REHEARSALS CONSISTENTLY
Members are expected to attend at least 80% of rehearsals and the majority of performances. We rehearse every Wednesday from 7.30–9.30pm at Castle Hill Primary School, Dryden Road, Ipswich IP1 6QD (with a short break over Christmas).
PRACTISE AND PREPARE
Rehearsals are focused and fast-paced. Members are expected to practise between rehearsals and attend occasional sectional sessions. We provide sheet music and learning tracks, enabling both confident music readers and those who learn by ear to prepare effectively.
PERFORMANCE
We value expressive performance. Members should be willing to move, communicate and tell stories through song, embracing new ways to engage audiences.
MEMBERSHIP COST
Membership is currently £22 per month (£10 per month for under-18s), plus a one-off payment for a choir T-shirt. Additional performance clothing is provided by members within an agreed style (for example, coordinated evening wear).
Where harmony begins
Our choir is made up of Sopranos and Altos working together in rich four-part harmony to create our signature a cappella sound.
SOPRANO 1
Our highest voices bring brilliance and sparkle, adding ringing harmonies that lift the texture and energise the ensemble.
SOPRANO 2
Often carrying the melody, Soprano 2s guide the musical line with clarity and expression while blending seamlessly within the harmony.
ALTO 1
Alto 1s provide warmth and depth just below the sopranos, strengthening the overall sound with balanced, supportive harmonies.
ALTO 2
The foundation of our ensemble, Alto 2s anchor the harmony with rich, resonant tones that add fullness and stability to every performance.
